The field of public relations is defined as the professional maintenance of a favorable public image by an organization or a famous person. The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is a community geared to strengthen, provide networking opportunities, professional recognition, learning opportunities, intelligence and a job center for those who are practitioners of the public relations industry.

This industry association fine-tunes its resources in to several interest sections, entertainment and sports being one of them. PRSA offers a customized profile, which allows the use of exclusive member benefits—online resources, preferred PRSA pricing, insurance and other vendor offers. Membership offers many additional benefits—professional development opportunities, code of ethics for PR, professional network of more than 21,000 members, a job center with additional employment opportunities, several publications that keep members abreast of trends and industry updates and assistance with industry challenges.


In order to preview the programs available, one must become a member; however it is clear this community has much to offer. PRSA offers the opportunity to pass on RFP’s to fellow members. This association not only provides a job center page, but the opportunity to take advantage of RFP’s or RFQ’s—which is available to the general Public Relations population! This is just a small example of what PRSA has to offer with this platform. PRSA is a huge asset to the industry.
